Position Overview:
The Shipper/Receiver & Material Handler is responsible for coordinating the flow of materials in and out of the shop. This role involves shipping, receiving, organizing inventory, and ensuring the timely and accurate movement of materials to support production and delivery schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shipping & Receiving:
- Load and unload materials and products from trucks using forklifts or other equipment.
- Inspect incoming shipments for damage and verify the accuracy of contents.
- Prepare and pack items for shipment, ensuring secure and compliant packaging.
- Inventory Management:
- Organize and maintain inventory in designated storage areas.
- Conduct regular inventory counts to ensure accurate stock levels.
- Coordinate with procurement and production teams to manage stock replenishment.
- Material Handling:
- Distribute raw materials, tools, and components to appropriate workstations.
- Ensure proper labeling and storage of materials to maintain shop organization.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory transactions, and receipts.
- Process shipping documentation such as bills of lading and packing lists.
- Safety & Maintenance:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Ensure the shipping/receiving area is clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Support in the procurement process by liaising with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Assist with budget tracking and management.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and scanning documents.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth office operations
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, and/or material handling, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (certification preferred).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation.
- Ability to lift up to [weight, e.g., 50 lbs] and stand for extended periods.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to material handling.
- Experience operating equipment (forklift, loaders etc.)
- Valid Class 5 Drivers license
